I had my surgery at the Noblesville Surgical Center and they were the same way! I'm a nurse and very observant of right and wrong....There wasn't ONE thing they did wrong. I was so impressed and if it wasn't so far away, I would have applied for a...
Thanks, Kristy! I am just browsing around...not sure if lapband is what I want to do. I read your profile...saw that you are a nurse. I am a certified surgical technologist, so I'm reallly trying to do my homework before I commit! Surgery is quite a big step....Laura
I have had three so far. Just had one in june which has really made a difference after not having one for about 2 months prior. Dr McEwen is a great Dr. I absolutely love him. Take care and keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same
I hope you are feeling well. I feel pretty good today; the pain I am having feels like I have been doing sit ups all day. I am up and moving around but keeping in mind that I did have surgery so I am not over doing it. Today I will start on full liquids which includes the shakes...OMG the shakes! I am going to stop whinning about them because I know I need the protein.
I wanted so much to say something to you, but I didn't. Who were you there with? Did you grow up in Greencastle? I sent you an e-mail. And just to think, I was able to smile even after just having my gallbladder taken out 12 days earlier! Dr. McEwen took it. Thank GOD for that!

About Me:
I'm a Registered Nurse working hard every day. I've been big all my life. I've just started the process to get the lapband done. I've made a lot of goals and have reached those goals over the past 6 years and this is the next one on my check off list. Wish me luck! :)
3/18/09 Update: I am now down to 6 days pre-op. Though I'm excited, the nerves are starting to kick in now, too.
4/6/09 Update: I am now 13 days post-op. The first week was eye-opening. I am now doing great! Anxious for that first follow-up appointment. About 18 pounds down.....and couting.
5/1/09 Update: I went yesterday for my first follow-up appointment. Down 25 pounds but it doesn't feel like it. I had my first adjustment yesterday, too. It was NOTHING like I expected. I was a little nervous for that first one but I never even felt it. Dr. McEwen is so good at what he does. I do feel a difference in my band and even though I am only on liquids right now, I can really tell. I am excited again!
6/19/09 Update: I had to miss my appointment for my second adjustment because my mom had a heart attack and was hospitalized for almost two weeks. Now I have her home and settled and set my new appointment for 6/29/09. I'm anxious to get back on the scale at Dr. McEwens office because that's the only place I weigh. I know my results won't be as good as I would have liked because I did not do as I should have when I was spending everyday at the hospital. I have upped my work out regimen though and I'm hoping that will make the difference for me.
6/29/09 Update: Had my second adjustment today. I haven't lost any more weight since my last adjustment but it's mostly my fault. I've still been drinking with meals and I was counseled on that today. So, that's my main focus for the next month so maybe I can see some results on the scale. I've still lost inches but that's mostly from my incredible workouts. I was extremely happy about the size difference because I went shopping this week for the first time since I was banded. Before surgery I was in a size 26 and I am now wearing a 22. One step at a time, One day at a time. Still at this point in the ballgame.....I HAVE NO REGRETS!
7/14/09 Update: I have 2 weeks until my next appointment and I am SO excited. I don't usually get on the scale until I go to see Doc....but I can FEEL the weight loss. I have really stepped up my workouts, pushing myself longer and harder 5 days a week and with the adjustment....I am sure I will have good results. I have done really good about stopping my drinking with meals and that has really helped too. Feeling so PUMPED right now!
